BEHIND THE MOUNTAIN

Behind the Mountain is a hand-bound artist-book containing 55 digital prints. The work has been shown as a part of two different group shows: Lurking there… there…, Curated by Sean Richards and Steve Cox, Red Gallery, Fitzroy, VIC, and Behind the Scenes at the Museum, Curated by Christine Morrow, Yarra Sculpture Gallery, Abbotsford, 2006. Images are also available as digital prints.

Exhibition text:

Cecilia Fogelberg treats the history of Western folklore as a vast repository of posable figurines that can be deployed in make-believe scenarios of her own invention. She assembles together various props, dolls and puppets to sound out what possible competing narratives can be constructed. In her artist book, the same figures reappear in different environments and contexts, highlighting the way that the rearrangements of elements change the construction of meaning.
